Hi,
I would like to have one beam in the whole measure (this case a 5/8) how can I do this? I know Time signature menu / Composite / Use a different time signature etc. so I can group them like 2+3 or 3+2 but in this way I can't group them as a 5 together.
I use Finale 2011 under Windows.
Thanks for your help,
Sandor

In Simple or Speedy Entry, you can join beams using the shortcut "/" (forward slash).

Sorry, but I still couldn't do it If I hit the "/" it just ties the notes but the beams still remain separated... ¨I've found a "Modify: Beam: Flat" shortcut but that doesn't work neither.

Put the cursor on the 3rd eighth note, then press "/".

Actually the Time Signature Tool is a very powerful tool.balatonisandor wrote:… I would like to have one beam in the whole measure (this case a 5/8) how can I do this? To make a 5/8 time signature group all five 8ths together, set the “display” time signature to 5/8, and set the “real” time signature to
0.625 (yes, that is right; you can enter a decimal fraction in a Beat Groups field)
over
1
You can also set the “real” time signature to
1
over
2+8 (yes, that is right; you can enter multiple characters in a Beat Duration field)
Or you can select “Use EDUs for Beat Duration”, and set the “real” time signature to
1
over
