I inadvertently deleted a .mus file but was able to recover the .asv version using Recuva. However when I try to open it, Finale gives me the message "Invalid file type..." I'm sure it's probably corrupted but there is still 63KB of data so it's not just a shell, the data is still there. I have tried changing it back to a .mus file, .bak, .mid. I have tried recovering it to another hard drive. I have tried everything that I know of and have researched and so this is my last ditch effort. I also sent it to MM tech support but I have not heard back yet. I am using Finale 2009 on Windows but was wondering if I upgraded to v.26 do you think that the file would open in the latest version? Thanks to all who give feedback.

This is the file if anyone wants to try to open it. If you can get this file back for me, I'll send you a $100 gift card to the retailer of your choice.

You must have a backup file somewhere—Finale makes backups by default unless you turn the feature off. Go to Preferences > Folders—is there a location specified for backup files?

Your file didn't open for me on Finale 2012 or Finale 25. Looks like it's a goner.
