Hi. Thank you in advance for your assistance. I'm arranging a piece for a band, and I need all the wind instruments that can do frullato (flutter-tonguing - is there a wind instrument for which this technique isn't adequate?) to play a downward glissando effect from the highest note they can, played during the first two beats of a 4/4 measure. The pitches can be as random as the performer wants (from the highest he / she can play - and frullato), but the duration and place in the measure must be precise (beats 1 and 2 of a 4/4 measure). I don't know how to write this clearly, so I truly appreciate your input. Thank you again!

Thank you! My main concern was about the pitch to be written since it's at random, and I didn't want the performer to think that the effect must be played from an specific pitch, but the highest one within his / her skills. Thank you again!

You are very welcome, Alvabass. That is a common way that many composers indicate the highest pitch a player can play.

My question is how to notate it in Finale? I'm looking for it for a long time and still don't know.
Thanks

With Jari's JW Change plugin you can do the changes. One feature is for changing the notehead, another for hiding the leger lines.

I will warn you some players find it difficult or even impossible to flutter tongue. In brass, especially low brass, it is even more difficult if the note is very high. It requires more and steady air flow control.
