Have you noticed?

While a save is performed (on Windows) the file being saved disappears from the folder, and then appears again. Do you also have this behaviour? Is it normal?

Scary.

Never. However, I use Win 7. Also, sometimes saving issues are related to the tmp file bug. Thus, I have a dedicated folder for the tmp files, and clean them out quite regularly. Doesn't hurt to try that and see what happens.

Thanks Zuill, that's apparently the one thing I forgot to do when I migrated to a new computer recently. From recommendation from you and others I use to keep the temp folder like that, thanks for reminding me.

Let's see if that does it.

It still behaves in exactly the same way.

My guess would be that it renames the old file xxx.bakx, then writes the new one, perhaps temporarily using a temp file, so the original name would disappear during this process.
