Dear Americans and Other Citizens of Non-Metric Page Size Nations,

Q. If you were to receive a PDF score that was typeset to fit A4 size, what settings, if any, would you use to print it, and what paper size would you print it on?

Yours,
A curious citizen from the Land of Metric Page Sizes (a.k.a. Hector).

A4 is close to the very common American "letter" size. Letter is about 6mm wider and 17mm shorter than A4, so if your music has big enough top and bottom margins, it would fit on letter. Larger paper is much less common but possible, of course. If the margins aren't big enough, easiest might be to print it on "legal" (8-1/2 x 14) and cut a couple of inches off the length.

Thanks, Motet! I generally put 1.5cm margins at all edges of my A4, so I guess that would fit on Letter size ok. I am often pondering whether or not I should make two versions of everything, one A4 and one for Letter, but it may not be worth the effort if I just choose my margins to allow for both.
