Half notes and whole notes in guitar tab

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to make the stems shorter for half notes in guitar tab, and to eliminate them immediately for whole notes. I have seen this style before in guitar magazines. I was able to get the stems and flags to show up, but I can't seem to get them to be specific any slower than a quarter note.

Also is it possible to get the augmentation dots to be up above the staff with the stem? I think there is a way to do this with special tools, but I wanted to see if there is a setting that I can switch on.

It sounds like the JW Change plugin will handle both the stems and dots. You can filter the plugin's action by note value, so filter out the half note values for those stems. I didn't know whole notes have stems in guitar tab, but you can filter those as well to hide them.
