Hello,

I'm writing an orchestral score in which the Flute 1 and Flute 2 parts are scored on the same staff (in different layers) to save space. I figured out how to use the "Linked Parts" functionality to create a Flute 1 part and a Flute 2 part separately, but is it possible to put both the Flute 1 and Flute 2 part on the same page (similar to how it's done at imslp.eu/files/imglnks/euimg/c/ce/IMSLP484012-PMLP4753-bassoon.pdf)?

I've tried to do this using the "Manage Parts" dialogue box, but it seems like it's not possible to duplicate an instrument in the "Staves and Groups in Part" box. I have Finale v25 on Windows.

Thanks,
The_Turtle

Ah, the French practice of including two parts in one.

Create new staves for Flute 1 and Flute 2 and explode your combined staff into these. There's a Finale "explode" function and also the JW Staff Polyphony that can do this. You can prevent them from printing with the score. When creating the part, include both of these staves and join them into a group.

Thanks for your reply! Is it possible to have the exploded parts and the original part to be "linked"; that is, if one part is changed, the other also changes? This would be convenient for last minute editing and such.

If only! Having things in two places is certainly not ideal.

I confess to being completely ignorant of the "voicing" aspect of parts. Perhaps there is a way.

If only there was a way to duplicate an instrument when making linked parts... could I submit this as a feature request?
