Found this on the Music Engraving Tips Facebook page. I really like the more traditional "old school" look. So much nicer than Times, which has never appeared on traditional plate engraving and seems to be an artifact of the computer age.

Thanks,
N.

According to Wikipedia, Times New Roman was developed for The Times (of London) in 1931. I agree this looks nice, and am curious, too.

It looks similar to Clarendon, but not exactly the same.

You can upload the image to www "dot" myfonts/WhatTheFont/ and it will give a list of fonts that match it.

Thanks, Alan. What The Font brought back a lot of interesting near-matches. We're getting closer.

You say you're a lurker. I hope you'll consider participating more in the discussions here. This group could use a boost in that department.

I'd say they look pretty much like a Century variant. Or try Monotype Modern.

This text font preview might help identifying the fonts.
"Century", "Modern" and "Schola" are good keywords for browsing the page with your example.
