This is a question to which I, as a 26-year Finale user should know the answer but...

Is there a way to make finale default to dotted quarter rests in compound meters such as 6/8 and 9/8, rather than rest plus quarter?

If not, is there a quick way to change these in batch?

My first guess:
MIDI/Audio menu > Quantization Settings > More Settings > Allow Dotted Rests in Compound Meters

Yes, it is crazy - and it is even more crazy:
This setting is a setting about rests, but it also affects notes.
