How do I change the measure numbering to reflect the guitar part that I am modifying for a musical? Instead of measures 5, 6 and 7 for example, the music says 5, 5A, 5B, etc.

Is 5a, 5b, etc. a measure-numbering choice? There is a way (undocumented) to do it with rehearsal marks.

It can be done with the Measure Tool. However, the best way to do it would be determined by the context.
