I experience a long delay when opening Finale. The splash screen is displayed and the cursor signifies that it's busy. I thought it was my old, slow computer, but I have a new, very fast machine now and it's no better.
It's perhaps 10 seconds. What could it possibly be doing all that time? Is it contacting the MM website? Reading up lots of files? Deliberately delaying for slow readers to see the copyright notice? Everything is on a solid-state drive, so it should be very fast. It's worst first thing in the morning, so in subsequent openings it's either intentionally skipping something, or else file cacheing is helping.
Anyone else? This is obviously not a big deal compared to some of Finale's other problems, but it is annoying.

After having started up my not particularly new computer (see specs below) to Windows 8.1 (no other programs loaded) it takes about 10-12 seconds to load Finale 2014.5 to my "open document" screen (and even faster after exiting Finale and loading it again, without having re-booted the computer)
Finale 3.7 > 27.4.1, GPO5, ASUS laptop, 18.4'' display, Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM, WIN 10 Pro, Cubase

By saying "even faster" I take it you think 10-12 seconds isn't slow, but that's the kind of delay I'm complaining about.
I suppose it could be the Windows security stuff. I told it not to scan finale.exe every time, which made no difference, but I suppose if Finale is for some reason slogging through a lot of other files, that could be it.

I'm using Fin26 and it boots up and shows the score I am working on in 7.3 seconds (with no other apps running).
When I boot up Fin 2014.5 it takes 10 seconds.
I am a Mac Pro user (Mojave) and I tend to use column view when navigating my files. The distracting thing for me, when using column view, is the long wait for the file preview picture to appear in the right hand column. The delay is not dissimilar to the above mentioned boot times.
Cheers,
Hector.

I don't think I have it. A search for "rewire" on my computer only turns up something in Sibelius (which loads much quicker). Perhaps it was added in a later verison of Finale.fratveno wrote:Trashing the rewire dll might help...

It's called Finale ReWire Device x64.dll (at least on Win). Was first introduced in 25 I think. It won't act up until you have started another application which can also be a ReWire master, such as Cubase. The next time Finale is starting, it spends some time looking for this boss One can reset rewire from within Finale (device setup...) or rename or trash the rewire component, if one doesn't need it. ( On the modest laptop I'm using right now, F26 starts in 7 seconds. )
