Dear all,

I have a question about a research project I am working on. I don't know if this is even possible in Finale, but let's see what you think about it.
I need to create a musical (rhythmical) notation of fragments containing speech. The interesting thing about these fragments is that several repetitions of the fragment will let you experience the speech as a kind of song. I can try to write down the song rhythms by myself, but is there an easier way to do this? I have got an excel file containing the onset and offset of every note in milliseconds. Is there a way to import a CSV file and let Finale 'translate' the onset/offset information to musical notation?

Thanks in advance!

Seems unlikely, I'm afraid.

Are you familiar with the Steve Reich pieces in this vein (It's Gonna Rain, e.g.)?

Leoš Janáček did that 100 years ago. Here's what a Google search gave me:

Any sampler can do this in conjunction with any decent DAW. I use Digital Performer and have my nudge setting at one millisecond.

Doing it from notation... I can’t imagine how one would approach it.
