Right in the middle of working on a piece, control-click has stopped selecting a single note. It will only select the entire measure. I am trying to hide rests in layers and input courtesy accidentals. It worked earlier, then simply changed its behavior. I have restarted Finale and rebooted the Dell laptop, but the problem persists. I found a workaround for hiding, I can select and use the menu command. It takes more time, but at least it works. I can't find a workaround for courtesy accidentals.

If this is in all files, then it might be a corrupt Preferences file. Have you tried repairing that?

Can you select a note by double-clicking, rather than CTRL-click?

Double-click works in the Selection Tool. Ctrl-click works in Simple Entry. Possibly, just being in the right Tool (or maybe the wrong Tool) is all that is at issue here.

Virtual stuck key, perhaps. Try rebooting.

I think rebooting was already tried and didn't seem to resolve the issue.

I should read more carefully. I suspect you're right--sounds like the O.P. is using the Selection tool.

Solved! I was in the right tool. Repairing the preferences file is what seemed to work. Unfortunately, that "broke" the audio engine, but I found a fix for that here: https://makemusic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/ ... p-Windows-

Thanks to all for the suggestions.
