Hi everyone, new forum member here, but Finale user since... 1991 or so.

Obviously, if you've upgraded it, we can't do this. But if you have one that you don't use it anymore, I would like to buy yours. Luke from MM indicated he can only do a license transfer with permission from the original owner.

Here's what's up: I'm slowly transitioning from 2007 on a different computer, and getting used my new upgrade of 25. I want to install both 2007 alongside my 25 while I get used to 25 and work out any problems. (The biggest problem I have is performance during scrubbing on 25. I suppose I need a faster computer, though my ancient WinXP computer was lightning fast with 2007. I'll post separately for help on scrubbing.)

Apologies is this is off-topic, but I've tried to do this on eBay and failed twice.

a licence transfer implies the person doing the transferring will no longer be using Finale.
you keep the same licence regardless of which version you use.

since you say you already have 2007, why not simply install it on the new computer?

And if by some chance you've misplaced your 2007 installation disc, if you have access to the old computer simply copy over the 2007 application and associated files. This works on Macintosh, but Windows?

I would not worry about that. You should have no issues with 25. It is a nice upgrade over 2007 but the basic GUI and how it works is almost exactly the same. 64-bit was the biggie.

Anyone who wants to sell their Finale license is unlikely to be visiting this forum.

I don't own 2007, it was another machine I purchased, which is now gone,

I would like to own two separate legal copies.

As for just using 25... as above, there are already minor issues that will take time to work out (scrubbing, still learning how to select measures quickly). Plus, with 2007 I can share with friends who use older copies.

Since you bought it, I think you're entitled to copy it from someone else without buying it. MM should really make it available to you (I think they claim they don't have old versions, though). I wish I could help you.

They should have a record of your serial number. Mine has been the same since Finale 2003, my first version.

"Mine has been the same since Finale 2003, my first version."
MM changed mine when Finale 25 came out (or maybe it was 2014 but they changed it not me). It was the same number for years and years until then.

It looks like you may not have a choice. But I think you will find the transition isn't as difficult as you think it is.
