Hi

How can I exchange parts between two staffs? For example, I would like to move the soprano part to the alto, and the alto to the soprano. Generally I do it by using a third staff, or an empty space, but it there an easier way to do it directly, exhanging the two parts?

Thanks a lot!

Amit

Highlight the Soprano staff and copy it into a clip file. Highlight the Alto staff and copy it into the Soprano staff. Copy the Soprano staff clip file into the Alto staff.

The JW Staff Polyphony plugin has a Swap feature for this situation.

Amit,

For me, the fastest way (without using the JW plug-in) is using Finale’s two different clipboard features:

(Selection Tool)

1) Highlight the Soprano staff and copy its music to the (standard) Clipboard (Edit menu > Copy).

2) Highlight the Alto staff.
Hold down the correct modifier key (are you using Windows Finale or Mac Finale?)*, and click the first measure of the Soprano staff.
The contents from the Alto staff is copied into the Soprano staff.
This “modifier key click” trick uses a special (Finale only) clipboard, and the (standard) Clipboard still contains the music from the Soprano staff.

*) If I Recall Correctly, the correct modifier key is CTRL in Windows Finale, and Option in Mac Finale.

3) While the Alto staff is still highlighted, paste the contents from the (standard) Clipboard into the Alto staff (Edit menu > Paste).
