Friends,
I try to export a file to PDF, v25.5 on Mac.

I have embedded an eps file, but with the command "Save as PDF" I get blurred eps picture.
I have tried to export as PS file, but I get always wrong page size.

So, my questions are:
how to get embedded eps clearly displayed
how to get proper page size (A3)?

thank you.

For the A3 page size (printing or pdf), 3 conditions :
• In page Format -> Score : A3 (if not, set it to A3 and Redefine all pages in the Page Layout Tool)
• File menu -> Page Setup -> A3
• In the Print window, Paper size, make sure you have A3 selected (this is sometimes overlooked). If A3 is not present in the pop-up menu, select Manage Page Size and select A3.

Hi OCTO,
it's known issue, but here is the method I use for many years:
first I know, that you are MAC user. So:
1. Download printer driver for large PS printer i.e. HP 5000 series or even better HP Large printer in order to print on A2.
I use HP Design jet T1100ps 44in, install it and select it as default (virtual) printer.
2. From File menu: "Printer page set up" and ... A3, etc. You can create custom sizes if you need.
3. Go to your project and select print (Command+P) and pop-window opens. From bottom left (the button appears as"PDF") select "Save as PostScript..."
4. Remember where you save it!
5. Double click on the created PS file and Preview will automatically render the PS to PDF.
Personally I use only Adobe Acrobat Pro instead of Preview.
The "Distiller", as a part of that app., creates brilliant PDF.
Then you'll get clearly embedded EPS graphics.
If you use WIN - then the colleagues with such experience could help better than me.

best regards,
Wess

There is another trick and IMHO it works much easier:

Prepare a PDF file from your score without embedding the EPS object(s).
Open the file in Illustrator, iDraw, Inkscape etc.
Add new layer and place the graphic object and adjust it properly.
LOCK the added layer.

Many Sibelius and Dorico users apply this method.
This works best for dense and complicated scores.

Try converting the eps to PDF (in Preview). It's worth a try.

1. Problem: The problem is that I can't get A3 output at all from ps file. Finale generates wrong sized ps file.
2. Problem: Embedding pdf instead of eps doesn't solve it either.

The only way is to do as wess said, to create document as pdf and than attach the picture (eps) in another software (InDesign).

Thank you.
