Hi there,
I'm using Finale 25 on Windows 10. I've done a string quartet arrangement of a Bach piece, had a friend who is a string player (& uses Sibelius) look it over for me and add bowings. She sent it back as an xml file, and it opened after a little coaxing with no big issues -- note wise at least. I've now finished the page layout and added dynamics, text etc. and cannot generate parts. When I go to extract parts in the file menu, the only part that shows is Vn. 1. Am I missing something? I searched and saw one post about now needing to use "linked parts" but I tried what was written and it didn't work. I have tried saving the file under a different name, still no parts. Suggestions appreciated, I do NOT want to re-transcribe all these notes and bowings and phrase marks and dynamics into a new score. File is attached!

There were other issues with this file. I fixed some of them.

Thank you! It seems to be working fine for my purposes. Do you think the file issues were because of the import/export as xml files? I've not done that frequently before but may need to again. Again, thank you!

After importing an XML file, there's usually a bit of work to get the file where it needs to be. The more experience you have with Finale, the easier it gets to be able to find those things needing fixing.

I've been with Finale since it came on large floppy floppy discs. … I've just never worked with xml before. Is there a site or search on the manual that is recommended to get up to speed on known issues with importing/exporting these files? I'm up for learning. Thanks again, by the way, parts are extracted, I'm fine tuning the formatting & will have them on their way soon, maybe publish the arrangement as well.
