I want to combine three string orchestra works into a single three-movement piece. I've seen instructions on how to do this in the old Finale forum (Motet from July 1, 2010) and, more recently, from Peter Thomsen on how to title a multi-movement work in one file.

What's the best way to bring in the second (and third) file into the first file? I've tried adding measures to the end of the first file and then copying the second file, but when I do that, the formatting is lost. I could also add the required number of measures and copy the second file into the first that way, but that also seems cumbersome and requires much reformatting. I could reformat, but I'm wondering if there's an easier way of which I am unaware. Even MM's instructions on how to do this are inadequate: I see nothing anywhere on how to bring the second file into the first. What am I missing here? What is the fastest, most efficient way to bring that second file into the first?

The "Even" seems out-of-place there. :-)

There's Score Merger (which I've never used). I don't know if it preserves formatting, though. If it were me I would probably leave the Finale files separate, and combine them in the PDF realm with an external program. No Finale fiddling required. You can add page numbers there as well. It would mean each movement begins on a new page, though (not a bad idea!).

Ah, score merger. I forgot about that. I'll try that and see what happens. Thanks, motet.
