I am creating a book featuring pieces in banjo tablature. I have a blurb for each piece inserted via a text box between title and notation. When I convert finale files to pdfs, however, the last couple of words of the blurb relocate and create an extra line. I am guessing this is because the finale files have an odd paper size dictated by the publisher(8.5 x 11.75) instead of standard letter size.
I would appreciate suggestions on dealing with this. For example is there a way to tell the pdf converter that the destination paper size is different?
One thing I tried was using Adobe Acrobat to make the pdfs instead of Finale. This did not work, however, because Acrobat doesn't recognize the .musx format.

How are you creating your PDF, through the print dialog or through Finale's Graphics Tool? If you are using one of those, try the other and see if your results are different.
Looking forward to seeing your book.

Doesn't Adobe Acrobat install a virtual printer to print to to make PDFs? If the Graphics tool doesn't work you might try getting one of the free print-to-PDF programs like CutePDF which use the open-source Ghostscript and work flawlessly.
With the print-to solutions, though, you'll need to add a "form" of the right dimensions in the print server properties, or Windows won't let you print to it.

I was using the path File/Export/Pdf. Then I just tried instead the path Graphics/Export/Pdf but the result was the same. When I try to use the print feature, I don't see any way to change the page size to a custom value.
The publisher tried to export my Finale file to pdf, and the text in the text box didn't run over to the next line. So there must be a different setting somewhere. Do you have any idea what it might be?

Sorry, although the print dialog box offers quite a number of options it does not offer custom settings.

Go to "Printer Page Setup" in the file menu. You should be able to set the custom paper size there.
