Does someone have a good idea for a default setting for ties in tight spacing?
I find that I waste a LOT of time when working with string multi-stops. The ties end up showing as just a dot or a small smudge between two notes, rather than as any form of curved line.

the problem is specifically with ties from grace notes to regular notes (as one would notate a multi-stop for strings), but I've had it happen with regular notes but in tight spacing.

So, does anyone have a default setting that might require less fiddling around (pun intended) with fine-tuning (jeeze, not another pun?) of the ties?

If the space is that small, would you be better off with wider spacing?

the spacing is otherwise fine, but Finale, by default, makes these ties really REALLY small.
if I loosened the spacing more it would look silly. besides, when you're talking about a half hour of music, that a LOT of pages. making looser spacing just makes it that many more pages.

I'd say this is a weak area of Finale. I don't know of an easy solution.

How about the old trick of putting an dummy Articulation after the first note, to widen the spacing? Set music spacing to "Avoid Collision of Articulations". I think the articulation can be a hidden one.

I'll try that. thanks.

And yes, this definitely seems to be one of Finale's weaknesses.
