I had a 4 verse hymn with 16 bars and no refrain, straight ahead SATB. I decided to remove verse 3. Then later I decided to put it back. Now I can't. I have tried removing all verses and installing 1 at a time. The 4th verse never shows up, just the first 3. I've expanded the system to make room, doesn't make a difference. I click on Lyrics, Edit Lyrics, the box pops up and I click through the pages for each verse. I can change font and sizes. Just can't get the 4th verse to appear in the page or scroll view.

Thanks
Mark

Attach a (small) Finale sample document here, and probably someone can examine your Finale sample document, and find the culprit.

This is a long shot, but under "Adjust Baselines" see if the offset for that verse is some huge number so the verse is there, but off the page floating up near your ceiling.

Thanks Bill, it was a long shot, but all the parameters are in line. Nothing wacko on the Baselines locations.

Thanks Peter, and whoever takes a whack at this. Please let me know how to fix this. I also tried creating a new file, copied the bass clef line cleanly, but the treble clef line copied with the lyric, and I didn't want that. As a side note, is the lyric always tied to the treble clef? What happens if the bass clef sings first? Not my main problem, but I was surprised the notes copied with the lyric using mass edit and highlighting the treble clef.

Main issue is getting the 4th verse to show.

thanks
Mark

Messing around with it, it did seem something was hinky with verse 4. I switched to verse 5 and put the words in there, thinking it would be easy enough to move that verse up, but when I did that, verse 4 suddenly started working properly.

Go figger.

But if Bill’s v. 5 worked, can you just delete the existing v.4?

As far as the side note question, unless there is a very good reason not to, I attach the lyric to the melody line. In a hymnal, that’s probably the soprano. If there is something like a bass pickup, I would attach those lyrics below their notes.

I just re-entered verse 4 using Click Assignment and it showed up just fine, and continues to display.

By the way, you don't have to enter the music in layers if the rhythms are the same between S&A and T&B. Just use common stems. Do use layers when the rhythms differ, as in m12.

Hey Bill, couldn't get this to work for me, but another solution was given below. Thanks for your efforts. Weird result!

Yeah, this one worked! Thanks N!

You're right on the use of layers. I had this originally in 4 staves so I could mess with each voice if I wanted to, then reduced it to standard hymn SATB. Thanks again for your help. M~
