I usually set my "recent files" to show 6.
Finale 26 doesn't seem to accept any number other than 4.
Has anyone else come across this problem?

it's not a major problem, but I happen to be working on a piece in 5 movements right now. it would be nice to have them all immediately available from the "recent files" drop down, instead of hunting for them in my file hierarchy.

My Finale still shows a long list of recent files; I'm sorry this feature isn't working for you. Can you set them in the program itself? Perhaps one can find the right line in the FINALE.INI file to change.

As an alternative, I found that it is very helpful to display lists of recently accessed files for individual applications as a "jump list" on my desktop. The lists display when you right-click a program icon pinned to your taskbar (I have mine set to show 30).

You can also pin files you use all the time permanently to the lists.

This feature was made more difficult to access in Windows 10, but it can still be done with a registry hack:

I had my IT tech do this for me (there are two different changes you need to make to the registry, so you may want to search further for directions in case the above is incomplete). However you proceed, I wish you success.

I am using Windows 7, and have mine set to 10. I suppose when I migrate to Windows 10, I'll have to deal with the problem then.

Well, it seems rebooting my computer fixed the issue.
I can now see 6 recent files.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

The line in finale.ini appears to be

MaxPrevFiles=8

The file names themselves are stored in the Windows registry, for some reason.
