There are a couple of ways to go about that. One would be to make an expression (which can be invisible) which plays a note at a certain key velocity on a certain pass. You set this up by editing the expression and then making those choices under the playback tab. There will have to be two expressions -- one to turn the sound off and another to turn it back on.

I have often found the key velocity approach with expressions won't work with Garritan sounds. If that is the case in your document, changing the playback setting to change the channel to a high number (anything over 128) should work, as Finale only uses 128 channels. Anything over that will basically have no playback effect, thus acting as a mute. To get back to sound, create an expression set to the desired channel. Set the high channel expression to apply to the second pass.
