Hey there,
I'm encountering an old problem, Finale getting significantly slower the larger the file gets, e.g. between 1-3 seconds to delete a rest or add an augmentation dot in an almost empty measure. Unfortunately breaking it down to several files is not an option, since it s a one movement orchestra piece and everything will be super confusing if done so.
In Finale 26 I have found that low resolution mode doesn't significantly change the performance speed, but is there another way to do anything about it?
Thanks a lot for any clues,
all best and have a nice weekend everybody!

Hello miker and motet,
thanks a lot for your quick replies, I'll definitely try that out, though the automatic update layout thing hasn't worked at first glance. But I'll give it another try.
Any other ideas?
Thx so much !!

The automatic update layout is a long shot. Years ago, I found turning it off helped in long pieces, but I haven't had to do it for a while. More likely, it's a Mac issue you're experiencing.

Hey,
thanks for your responses! I'm in scroll view, but page view doesn't seem to make a difference. If this is a Mac issue, then this is frustrating-as-hell news But I appreciate the delivery
Any other hints?
Thanks everyone !

You might try turning off Automatic Music Spacing (Preferences > Edit). The only problem is that the notes will bunch up as you enter them. When this happens, you can manually space by highlighting the passage and hitting "4" on the keyboard.

Thanks a bunch, N Grossingink, the Automatic Music Spacing hint did the job. Obviously the issue isn't completely gone, but at least I can delete a rest in under 3 seconds Scrolling, no matter which tool is activated, is still painfully slow, but I don't think this is something to be remedied or worked around by us users....
Anyhow, thank you everyone for your hivemind!!
