I'm using Finale 2009
Sometimes I get this weird thing where the notes extend over the barline.
For example, when I try to copy the top 9 bars again or try to enter notes in bar 10 manually I get these two scenarios:

Turn on Automatic Update Layout (and leave it on). Edit/Preferences. There's no benefit to turning it off.
