Missing bars, linked parts, unrelated to multi-measure rests

I have a bar that is missing in the middle of a line on several parts. Linked parts. No multi-measure rest is involved. I have tried moving the measures manually to see if it would appear, no luck. In the part you see the tie which leads into the invisible measure.
I think this happened on parts for a recent orchestral reading also, a bit embarrassing to have a player say they are missing a bar within a phrase. What is the culprit here?!
I know have to pour through every single part measure by measure to see if there are other spots like this.

Go to Document Options > Multimeasure Rests. Is Update Automatically checked? If not, it should have been.
To uncover any missing measures that may exist in the parts, go to Edit > Multimeasure Rests > Create for Parts/Score. Check each one of the parts in the list and hit OK.
Generally, you should leave Update Automatically for MM Rests checked all of the time. That way, if you add or delete any notation, everything will update and appear correctly in the parts. The problem is when you try to edit any individual MM Rests (appearance, width, etc.), the edits won't stick. I'd suggest leaving update on until absolutely all of the music is entered, then turn it off if you want to edit any MM Rests.

Seeing a file would help. However, by the description, I can't tell if we are talking about a missing measure (for example, the part goes from bar 3 to bar 5 for no reason), or an invisible, or hidden measure. If it is the second, I'm guessing there is a Staff Style that shows the measure in the score, but hides it in the part.

Flute part jumps from 117 to 119. It isn't a hidden measure.
I have finished all the editing on this an had to cut off the automatic multimeasure tool to fix some formatting issues. I will cut that back on and start over with formatting the layout and see if that will solve it.
Thanks!

You can leave that option on and just apply or clear MM rests in the region and that alone might be all that is needed to reset things.

So far so good. I cut it on again and then back off to reformat. The first part looks ok now, so hopefully that will be the fix. (And at least it keeps all the staff spacing etc, so it won't be too terrible to redo!)
Thanks, Guys! Alas, it is a wind piece for a middle school level ensemble, and I will keep this rockin' space themed piece between me and the commissioning body until after it's debut.
Thumbs up to you for your help. If it acts up again I will check back in.

Deleting and Regenerating Parts should fix it.
It's fixed some inconsistencies for me.
Now I always Delete and Generate at the end when I'm done, then whatever Part editing I do is retained.
Maybe not related to this, tho.

If this works for you, fine. But Delete and Regenerate blows away all page layout work, so I'd be careful.oldmkvi wrote:Now I always Delete and Generate at the end when I'm done, then whatever Part editing I do is retained.
You don't have to "Delete and Regenerate". Regenerating alone overwrites the original parts, so deleting is superfluous. But again, if it works for you…

I think oldmkvi is saying that after entering all the notes, but before working on parts, regenerate them. I guess it depends on your workflow, but I see no benefit to having the linked parts until you actually start to format them. I delete them right after adding the new staff to the score, as I said. I think most people would agree that mixing formatting and entering music at the same time is not a good idea.

Thanks so much for this info. This was about to really slow me down (missing measure in drum part), but the tip to turn on automatic update for MM rests did the trick. It seems like a bug to me; hopefully someone will get around to fixing it!
