Finale 26 Windows 7

Is there any way to hide a group name, especially with a staff style? I've got an optimized score with complex string divisions, and the group names are occasionally getting in the way.

I don't think so. You can split the group into a range of measures, thus eliminating the middle where you want it hidden, but that's a lot of trouble. If, for example, you're labelling "Violins," that's probably unnecessary, so you could do away with the group name altogether.

Splitting the group may not be too hard, but knowing the situation first would give is more insight into the need, and the best solution.

Pic attached. yes, I do have a "Viol." group name, because of the number of different optimizations that occur: it just saves time. The problem hits when I have just the "soloviol.", as the Group name appears over it.

I suppose I could come up with a style for just above the group name that says "solo", though I'd really like to stick to the original name formatting.
