System handles disappearing/page not updating

Hey everybody,

here's a problem I've had for a while, but right now it's driving me utterly crazy: Whenever I move a staff upward, causing it to jump on the previous page, there is a bug causing it to be on both pages at the same time, hiding the staff handle on the new page and making any other editing impossible. Sometimes it helps to update the page, but mostly that doesn't change and only jumps to the intended (and actual latent) layout after a totally unpredictable of other unrelated editing steps. Only than can I edit the moved staff on the page and continue layouting. This is super frustrating, because for no apparent reason it stops the entire work flow, and this for no apparent reason. I've had this problem already with previous versions of Finale (running v26 on Mac).

Any ideas? Please don't say it's a Mac issue

I've also had the problem (also on a Mac) and redrawing the page/updating the layout generally works.

If you Update Layout while being in Page View, then Finale will Update Layout from the current page and onwards to the end of the document.
The pages before the current page are not affected.

On The Other Hand, if you Update Layout while being in Scroll View, then Finale will Update Layout on all pages.

I hope you haven't turned off Automatic Update Layout.

If you are done with the layout, turn off Automatic Music Spacing, but don't turn off Automatic Update Layout.
