I have a situation where I want the playback to change in different measures...I may have the terminology wrong...but the situation is this...

start the music...select none for playback style

at measure 31 thru measure 38 I want the music to swing...

then at 39 return to none...

is it possible to accomplish this?

This is the way I'd do it:

In the Expression Tool Tempo Marks category there is a mark "Swing" - enter that at measure 31. You can edit it to say whatever you want or use hidden text to eliminate it altogether. Take note of the playback settings to make the "swing" - click the edit button and look in the "playback" tab.

At measure 39, duplicate the swing mark used in m31. Edit the playback tab to read "Set to Value - None" That will turn off the swing. You can edit the text to read what you want or hide it altogether.

Just be aware that if you want all the staves to swing, you have to assign it to all the staves. With a Score List, you can select it for just all the parts, so it will only show on one staff in the score. This is needed do to the way Finale is programmed. I think it should not be needed, but is the workaround that we have been using forever.
