What is the opposite of 'a tempo' in musical notation?
In other words breaking with the tempo, at the musicians discression.

If not liberamente, maybe tempo ad lib.?

Thank you for the replies. I guess the problem might be that the reader wouldn't know what 'liberamente' or 'z tempo' means so 'tempo ad lib' might be the best choice.
I tried googling an answer to this and (surprisingly), there's no information that I can find which seems strange because if you have 'a tempo' surely there needs to be an opposite to that..
