Key Commands and Default Docs

Hey all. Is anyone using Touch OSC (ipad) and OSCulator for controlling Finale? I am able to set it to follow Finale’s key commands (like esc for selection tool) but commands like CTRL+OPT+F, which allows me to jump to a different tool, like speedy are document-specific.

So I was advised to save my settings to my default document. So, I opened my default document and created CTRL+OPTION+F to jump to the Speedy tool. Then, I hit CTRL+F in the default document and it works. I saved the document. Shouldn't that now work for any new file I create, whether a template or with Setup Wizard? If not, how do I save a "keyboard equivalent to my default file?"

If not, is there a way to make my key commands permanent for any Finale document I open? Thanks for any help.

You should look into creating a document style or a template file.

I created a video a while back all about setting up and using document styles: https://youtu.be/h2Km6BspqEc

Any keyboard shortcut you create with a document style will be saved for the next new document with the setup wizard.

Thank you, Nick. Unfortunately, I followed your video to the letter and didn't work for me. Hmmm.

Sometimes the document style locations is different. So perhaps the version that Finale is using for you is in a different folder?

To check on a mac, go to Finale > Preferences > Folders, and look for "Document Styles". Edit the document styles in the folder listed there. Don't think I mentioned that in the video, so I need to go back and update it.

Hope that helps.

Thank you again, Nick. Sadly, no luck.

The Document Styles are in-

Macintosh Hard Drive > Library > Application Support > Make Music > Finale 26 > Music Files > Document Styles

http://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Fina ... t%20Styles

Davidabb,

Perhaps you went to the wrong folder hierarchy.

There are two identically looking folder hierarchies with Finale folders.

One folder hierarchy resides in the Library folder at the root level (System level).

Another folder hierarchy resides in the (hidden) Library folder in your user account.
To get to the hidden Library folder in your user account, hold down Option, and use Finder’s Go menu.
