I've been using Finale 2014.5 for years, and I want to upgrade, but I'm worried my current works won't be compatible with the new version. Will I still be able to work on those pieces in v26?

Simple answer, yes you will be able to work on documents created in F 2014.5 in F 26.1.

You may need to check the positioning of certain previously entered articulations, but it shouldn't be a major problem.

To clarify:

Articulations are positioned differently in v26.1 - in my experience the following step solves the problems:

Edit the articulation’s settings for Handle Positioning, and set the Vertical value(s) to zero.
After you have done so, the articulation will be positioned as you would expect.

Okay, what about outside VSTs? Will upgrading delete any that I have in the folder, or will it leave those alone?

Upgrading installs a completely new version. It doesn’t overwrite or delete anything. So you may have to move the VST to a new folder (I know nothing about that) but nothing should be deleted.

I have had no issues so I am not using 2014.5 any longer.

The VSTs I had in 2014.5 are not present in v26. I re-added the plug-in directories using the dialog box, did "re-scan for VSTs"... but no matter what it simply won't register that any VST is installed aside from Garritan and Smartmusic Softsynth.

Finale 2014.5 is a 32 bit app; 26 is 64 bit. Could that be the culprit?
