From the SmartShape tool, Ctrl-click on the custom line icon on the palette. Find the line with two hooks, click Edit, and uncheck Horizontal. Click OK and Select. You can then apply this vertically by click-dragging.

That's good to know. Looks like there are two sizes (below). I guess you could experiment with font size to get the right length, though the thickness would change, too, and if there were multiple occurrences it might be noticeable.
Looks like ome of the other Engraver fonts have brackets, too. I don't know if they're different sizes.

You can also create the brackets in the Shape Designer.
In that way you can get exactly the Line Thickness needed.
Also, you can create brackets in all the heights needed.
Since the height of one scale step is 3 Points, the heights should probably be in integer multiples of 3 Points:
6pt, 9pt, 12pt, 15pt, 18pt &c.
You can add the shapes as expressions or as articulations.
In that way you can get exactly the Line Thickness needed.
Also, you can create brackets in all the heights needed.
