Hi, I'm Jay, and I've been using Finale since around 2010-2011, and figured after all that time, I might have learned just about everything I'd need to about Finale's features and how to use them, but it seems today, I've hit a wall of sorts- I'm trying to set up a composite time signature within a displayed 3/4 that effectively amounts to 4/16+3/16+5/16. Quickly, I remembered that inputting it that way results in a stream of unbeamed 16th notes, which is no good- I really want the 4-3-5 16th note beaming pattern, and this is the best way to automate that, that I know of, so I found a good workaround. 1/4+0.75/4 gives me a beat of 4 16ths and a beat of 3 16ths, but then I found another problem.
You would think that if Finale could interpret 0.75/4 to mean 3 16th notes, 1.25/4 would come out to 5 16th notes. Well, turns out that assumption was incorrect. I just end up with an extra beat of "1/4" and a 16th note on its own at the end, which isn't ideal either- the whole point of this beaming pattern is to replicate a konnakol rhythm I've been working with lately, which needs to be easily visualized as 4 3 5, not 4 3 4 1.
Any help with getting the 5 16ths to beam as a group of 5 16ths would be greatly appreciated. I know it's graphically possible, because quintuplets exist, so it's just a matter of making the time signature tool recognize what I want.
Best,
Jay

A suggestion :
I realize that Motet was faster with the same suggestion.

Just an observation and a thought:
From a player's perspective, your 4+3+5 grouping would naturally be played with a pulse on the first note of each beamed group. Presumably that's what you want. Why not ditch the unusual beaming and just write it out directly?
