A few years ago, I hired someone to make a piano reduction of songs for voice and 11 instruments. I'm finally editing it and find that I have had to rewrite much of it. That's OK, but the resulting file is full of spacing issues: clashes of accidentals with notes, particularly, but other spacing problems that just don't look right to me.

I have set the spacing in Document Options to clear manual spacings, but it hasn't helped.

Examples of really bad spacing in the attached file: measures 15 & 28.

Can anyone see what's preventing normal spacing?

Thanks,

Mark Carlson

I think both measures are the result of Finale thinking there's not enough room. Try moving the barlines on either side of measure 15. In measure 28, you'll perhaps have to resort to messing with the beat chart.

Thanks, motet.

That definitely works. I'm puzzled, though, that Finale doesn't spread things out to allow them to fit, as it normally does.
