Whenever I add staves or change instruments (under the Instrument List tab in ScoreManager), the score regroups the staves to the default (woodwinds, brass, percussion). Is there any way to add staves and change instruments without this happening?

You can add a blank staff with the staff tool. You'll have to set up the name and playback information yourself in that case. I think if you select a staff before adding, it will place the new one ahead of the one you've selected.

In Preferences > Edit, there is an option for "Automatic Instrument Family Group Brackets". Might this affect how added staves are rebracketed?
