Somehow I've managed to have my transposing instruments playback at concert pitch. Finale automatically inserts a transposed key signature along with the transposed instrument but I wanted the score to have no key signature (in line w/ contemporary scores). Is there a painless way to do this so Finale plays back the transposed notes?

In the score manager under Transposition, check Hide key signature.

I'm not sure what playback issues, if any, you're having. Perhaps you should attach a file.

I'm sure I just did something backwards when I saw the key sig. I'll try that, it should work. Thanks

Ok, I just figured out what was throwing me before. Finale was playing the transposed instruments at the correct pitch during playback...however, when entering the notes, the sound it was playing was at concert. Perhaps a bit of a programming oversight. No idea why you'd want to hear it at concert for a transposing instrument esp. since it transposes them while playing anyways.

They've fixed that beginning with Finale 25, I think. It's an option.

If you enter music with a MIDI keyboard, I suppose it might be jarring to press a C on the keyboard when entering a horn part and hear an F. On the other hand, when you have the music you're working on in your head, it's also jarring to hear the wrong notes when the sound is not transposed, so if I ever upgrade, I'd probably use the new option.

In the score manager under Transposition, check Hide key signature.
Another way to do it, though not necessarily better: I never use key signatures, always use Document > Display in Concert Pitch, and in the score manager I choose (for transposing instruments) Transposition > Other > Chromatic > choose the appropriate transposition. That way you never see/have a key signature anywhere that you have to hide. But as you say, there seems to be another option to do this in newer versions?
