I can deal with this, but I thought members of the forum might be amused by this. I've no idea why the articulations were so repeated, but at least the repetitions are clearly visible and can be deleted.

David,
Ha! Strange indeed.
Would the stacks of three staccati be called "staccatis-is-is-imo?
and the last 8th note looks like a flock of Canadian Geese are flying under it.

I get (sort of) the same thing when I bring in an XML from SmartScore. If there was a chord with a single articulation, when I open the XML in F26, I get articulations for each note. If the chord has 3 notes, I get 3 articulations. Each company points the finger somewhere else, but this did not happen in any older version of Finale.

All of the Finale scores I engrave have been input by the composer or arranger. Occasionally, I'll find passages with multiple articulations on a note, overlayed one on top of another. It's hard to see where this occurs, but the tip off is that these articulations appear slightly boldened. I suspect that this happens when the "Implode Music" utility has been used.

I think your example is a case of multiple articulations being assigned to a note. The only difference is that Finale 26 stacks these multiple articulations, rather than overlaying them. By the way, the JW Staff Polyphony plugin has made the Finale Implode function obsolete. It works much better.

This is the version of my viola concerto with piano, so for a moment I thought that imploding must be it as I briefly suspected I might have used implode while preparing the piano reduction. But then I remembered that I'd written both versions in manuscript rather before I first used Finale (see pic) so in this case it must be something else. (I created the file in F 2001 in May 2001.)

There are a couple of font oddities too when opening in F26, so I'm referring back to my manuscript, which is no bad thing as it's turning out. My publisher will have PDFs, but it's probably better for me to check against my original.
