Is that a pretty wishy-washy description of “nothing much?”
That fits right in there with my rampant anticipation of more features like stacking articultions.

This could be huge. For years, MDs have been trying to find a way to organize performers before the performance, to make sure they have all the right markings and are ready!
- Have you ever wished that you knew who was practicing the repertoire at home before the big performance?
- Did you need to make a last-minute edit, but know you will lose valuable time trying to make and send out new PDFs?
- Have you ever questioned if the ensemble that is about to perform your masterpiece will be performance-day ready?

After reading the expanded blog post - https://www.finalemusic.com/blog/dont-l ... -fool-you/ - I have a question.
What the hell are you people thinking?
All that most of us want, is a program that works. Fix the bugs before giving us something that serves no purpose to anyone except your stockholders.

Ok, pardon my feeble joke earlier.
I have no desire that MM takes over the responsibilty for delivering correct materials on time to orchestras, ensembles and publishers. I've been quite capable of doing that myself, so far. My planning would, however, be safer if my workflow wasn't constantly hampered by Finale's numerous old shortcomings and bugs. Sometimes these are quite unforeseeable, which really can threaten your planning.
My impression is that MM now is taking the populist way, promising us a moon we didn't ask for, because the responsible, grown-up, dreary deficiency-fixing and bug-fixing isn't sexy enough.

1 and 3 sound like an invasion of privacy, but I suppose they have their place in a school setting. I don't know how 2 could be done except by everyone having Finale files and sending out patches, again something that's perhaps conceivable in a "Smart Music" setting but not otherwise.Have you ever wished that you knew who was practicing the repertoire at home before the big performance?

3 also sounds like a Smart Music deal--perhaps the player plays along and validates they can play the part. But it sounds like the statement is directed at composers. Are they envisioning premiering a piece without rehearsals?
Honestly, it sounds like the folks at MakeMusic have little or no knowledge of how the orchestral world works.

"Have you ever wished that you knew who was practicing the repertoire at home before the big performance?"
No.
"Did you need to make a last-minute edit, but know you will lose valuable time trying to make and send out new PDFs?"
No.
"Have you ever questioned if the ensemble that is about to perform your masterpiece will be performance-day ready?"
Yes, but I have no expectations whatsoever of MM solving that for me.

You may have missed the irony in my post.Anders Hedelin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2020 8:22 pmWhat could be potentially huge is the miscalculation.
This seems to be some kind of 'portal'. These sorts of things never catch on: I've been involved in several similar projects that planned to 'curate' and project manage various documents: but they've all failed, because the internet abhors a middle-man.

They may have concluded that they can't compete with Dorico on the engraving side and need to focus on the educational and church markets. It is such a shame that after all this time and effort, musicians still don't have the well-designed, practical and complete notational tool they need.
