First, enter the notes into layer #2. Then, select Show active layer only and replace the noteheads with "X" or diamond noteheads using the Change Noteheads dialog box.

The o with the slash for half-diminished should be lower-case.
And just FYI, A/F "could be" A7+9-13,
as F major is the upper-structure Triad created by that Dom 7 Chord.

To mute playback of a specific layer, the quickest way is to use the plug-in (to be installed) JW Change -> Note Entries -> Playback -> Mute (and select a layer).
