Hi Forum,

In the screenshot you can see an F# and a B chord that, through transpositon, become a G# and a C#.

Is there a way to change the enharmonic to Ab & Db?

Thank you,
Best,

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that the Concert Pitch chords

F#m7(b5) and B7(b5),

at Written (= Transposed) Pitchshould” display as

Abm7(b5) and Db7(#5)

and not as

G#m7(b5) and C#7(b5)

- right?

1) I am not sure about the 7 chord’s extension: b5 or #5 ?

2) In a context with a key signature of 3 sharps I do not see anything wrong with the chord roots G# and C#.

3) If you enter the root as Ab, then the feature {Simplify Spelling} will change it to G#.
But if you enter the root as Bbbb, then it will change to Ab.

4) Similarly, entering Ebbb will give you Db.

5) As mentioned, the culprit is the feature Simplify Spelling (look in the Chord menu).
Try toggling Simplify Spelling off, and see what happens.
If you have any Capo Chords in this document, then toggling Simplify Spelling off may cause chord display issues.

The 2-5 is a Tritone Sub to C, that's why the b5 in the dominant and my prefs for Db. If we were to go to F# then, you're right, my chords would be a little off. (See Pic.)

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, Peter.
