I'm having trouble getting Finale to save my palette customization.

I customize the Simple Entry Palette by removing everything but the double whole note, hit Save Preferences, and close Finale. When I reopen Finale, the palette is back to its original form, with all of the options displayed.

I've tried resetting my preferences to no avail. Am I doing something wrong?

Why don't you use the keyboard shortcut to select the double whole note? See the Help menu > Keyboard Shortcuts > Simple Entry.

Yes, just press 8 on the keypad. I think the Simple Entry palette may be special.

Thanks for the responses. As far as I can tell, the shortcut you're referencing only works when you already have the Simple Entry tool selected. Since the double whole note is literally the only tool I ever use in Simple Entry, having to select Simple Entry first and then select the double whole note adds an extra step to the process.

What I want is to be able to select the double whole note with one click, regardless of what tool I'm currently using, which is why I have the palette open (I have a keyboard shortcut set up to do this, but I want the option to select it with the mouse as well). Since I don't need access to any other Simple Entry options though, there's no need to display them all and take up precious real estate.

Hopefully that makes sense.

Ah.

I in fact do a similar thing with the Repitch tool. Use the TGTools menu shortcuts and define a key like this. When you press that key, you'll be taken to Simple Entry with the double whole note selected. The Simple entry palette will appear. Make sure you've selected the program option to close the Simple Entry palette when you leave the tool.

Thanks, I appreciate your detailed reply. As I mentioned in my last post though, I do already have a keyboard shortcut assigned to do just that. I'd like, however, to have the option of selecting it with my mouse as well.

The issue I'm struggling with is that Finale won't save my customization of the Simple Entry palette (see first post).

Works on my Windows Finale 25 without any problems. I customize the palette, save the preferences, reboot, open Finale and the palette is in its saved state. Maybe it's a problem with the file access permission, e.g. Finale tries to save the preferences at a place where they can't be saved? Perhaps Finale doesn't have the rights to save something there or some drive is inaccessible.

Thanks HaraldS, Finale saves all of my other preferences just fine, including customizations to other palettes. It seems to be an issue with the Simple Entry palette specifically.
