By default a single grace note will have a slash to it. But when I enter two or more grace notes the slash does not appear.

How can I make the slash appear on the first grace note (when entering multiple grace notes) as in the example below which I saw on a modern score.

Thanks!

You will have to add the slash with the Expression Tool.

I would create the slash as a shape expression, and adjust the line thickness and slope until the slash works well in the context.

Thanks!

Since I have lots of 2-3 group grace notes, I wonder if it might make correct notation to just make the grace notes into 16th or 32nd notes without any slashes? That way I might avoid going through every single grace note..

The JW Grace Note Slash plug-in will do it, but Peter's way gives you more control over the look.

Looks like JW Grace Note Slash uses the document setting Grace Note Slash Thickness. The one above looked too thin. Here I've set it thicker to demonstrate. If you'd like to keep it thin for single grace notes, you can set it back after running the plug-in.
