Unwanted ties in 6/8, can I automatically clean this up?

I am writing in 6/8 (edit, this also applies to 12/8 in the attached picture), and want to have two bars of straight quarter notes. I'm using a midi keyboard with HyperScribe. I want them to look like quarter notes, and not like the picture below, with tied eighth notes in between quarter notes (the second measure; the first measure is how I want it to look like). Is there a way to automatically remove the tied eighth notes, or will I have to manually fix them?

Set the desired measure to 6/4 time. If you want, you could hide the 6/4 time so that it is visually 12/8: Time Signature dialog box, click "More Options", select "Use a Different Time Signature for Display", set it to 12/8.

BUT: do that only if your piece really changes to 6/4 time. The notation as Finale does it is indeed correct, as the beats (the dotted quarters in 12/8 time) still remain visible. The visibility of beats is crucial for musicians, because reading rhythms means recognizing learned patterns. The average musician relies on beat visibility. With your desired changes, the beats would be no more visible and it would be a faulty 12/8 notation, with which a musician could/would/will struggle.

This is just hemiola.

Temporarily change the time signature to 3/4 (or 6/4 for 12/8). This won't disturb any of your notes. One at a time, select the measures or blocks of measures you wish to change.

Pick Retranscribe from the MID/Audio menu.

Voilà. After all have been done, change the time signature back to 6/8.
