Hello,

A new problem appears today. I want to save my file and I have this message:

While attempting to access “EnigmaTemp1612047156” the File Manager reported an error.
Finale - Error occurred. ID = -2

I did OK, and then this message appears:

The document “Accords 1.musx” could not be saved.

Thanks for your help.

Some wild “shots in the dark”:

Have you tried exporting,
- as MusicXML ?
- as MIDI ?

If you can manage to export a file, then you can import that into a new, fresh Finale document.

Thanks Peter.

The file was already saved before, fortunately. I forced to leave Finale, and now the problem doesn't appear again.

This is caused by the OS removing a temporary file that Finale needs (Finale's fault, not the OS--Finale apparently fails to keep the file open). To keep it from happening again, create a folder of your own just for Finale's temporary files, then go to Preferences/Folders and point Temp Files to your new folder. You'll need to occasionally clean out that folder when Finale isn't running since the OS will no longer do that for you.

A TERRIBLE bug that's been left to languish for years. A competent programmer could likely fix it in an hour.

When I started with Win 10 a couple of weeks ago, I set up my Finale Temp folders in the main Windows Temp directory as I did in Win 7. At some point, Windows, probably in some kind of a cleanup process, deleted the folders assigned to the 32 bit versions of finale (2011-2014.5). I had to re-create them. I am not sure if this is a Windows issue, or something caused by the Dell Support Assistant, which often does things in the background designed to "help" me. Deleting those folders didn't help me. Anyway, having designated folders for each version of Finale has been my MO for years.

I put mine in my Documents directory. Windows won't touch it there. The temp directory is just that. Any file left in there which is not currently open by a program is fair game for deletion.
