Plugins on windows

I'm trying to help a friend with JW Change. He is on Windows 10, and not particularly computer-savvy.
He has downloaded the file, and it appears in his downloads as jwchange64(1).fxt
The downloads come to me on a Mac as a compressed file, that I need to decompress before putting in the folder. Is the .fxt file ready to go as-is, or does it need to be decompressed first?
He is also having trouble locating the correct folder. Again, my Mac experience doesn't help.
Any step-by-step assistance is welcome!

The instructions below are in
http://finaletips.nu/index.php/download ... s-plug-ins. I hope that's where he got it. The (1) in the file name indicates it was downloaded twice. The downloads are .zip files; perhaps the browser unzipped it. Use the one without the (1) in the name, or delete and start over.
Windows plug-ins for 64-bit Finale (Finale 25 and above).
To install a plug-in on Windows:
Find out where your plug-ins folder is located by looking in the Edit/Preferences... (Program Options in earlier Finale versions) at the Folders page.
Unzip the the plug-in .fxt file to that folder (or to a subfolder if you want it in a submenu to the Plug-ins menu)
Restart Finale

Thanks, Motet.
Is the .fxt file already unzipped? Is that the proper suffix for a Finale plugin?

Yes. The download files are .zip.

Edit, preferences, folders? Isn't that the same for Mac?

No, the Mac preferences are in the Finale menu. But, close.
