I seem to have this problem in meas.5 thru 8. See attached.
The stems go in different directions and that's OK. But the slurs
coming from the LH notes in meas.5 are so tiny as compared with
the slurs in meas. 6-8. (If I change stem direction it looks wrong.)
It's better when I fit three measures per line
but then it looks odd when compared with the rest of the piece,
where there are four or five measures per line. Is there any way
to get the slurs in meas.5 the same size as those in meas.6-8
without changing the number of measures per line?

The stem direction does affect the TIE length. You can manually lengthen the TIES, but then they will overlap the stems. It's your call.

Ties, not slurs.

Oops. I fixed my post and put the correction in caps so it is noticed.

Thanks for the heads up. Doing a lot today and maybe I was a bit sidetracked. I was just using the word slur from the OP, but I should have suggested the change to tie but failed to.
