Suddenly - my margins are a total mess. And I lost audio. Windows 10 - Finale 2014.5.
When I try to distribute systems evenly, that smash together and I have no control over them really. It's like the bottom margin was reset by default.
I suspect this is related to some new software I installed, a DAW. I have both Ableton Live Lite and Cubase Elements 10.5 installed. I will be purchasing a license for Cubase as soon as the dongle I ordered arrives. Anyway I have been messing around with drivers and I bet that is what's going on because both use VST. WARNING: I'm dangerous because I don't understand the technology and am tech-deaf. Which drivers and settings would I need to reset in Finale to get it back to where it should be?
Thanks.

It's hard to tell without seeing the file. If it's only happening in one file, then we should be able to see what's happening by seeing the file. As far as playback, is this MIDI or VST or both?

More info:
I just installed a driver for the DAW, ASIO4ALL v2. Garritan showed up in my list of VST plugins in the DAW.
In the audio setup > Audio Driver, this is the only one listed. It's listed as the Mic Source in Audio Setup. Same for output and I tested both and they sound fine but no sound when I am playing back a score.
VST Banks & Effects is set to SmartMusicSoftSynth
For MIDI Setup, my Arturia keyboard is listed as the device as MIDI In and SmartMusicSoftSynth 1 is listed as MIDI out.
MIDI Thru lists one channel, SMART.

When I reset the pages, I get a page with the top margin positioned down quite a bit. I'll attach a screen shot.

Sometimes reloading Finale or rebooting the computer clears up audio problems. Also, I avoid ASIO and use Direct Sound instead.

I will have to manually switch the driver depending on which program I'm using? I need ASIO for Cubase. I think. I'm new to this and noting makes sense really as I'm not that technically oriented. I'll see if this makes a difference. I suspect this will return sound, though the playback sound in Finale is so low I can hardly hear it.
I just noticed that when I have Finale open, the sound system is muted...couldn't hear a video on YouTube! Gotta be the driver.

Thanks for the reply.
FINMIDI.INI has AudioDeviceTypeString=DirectSound, but somehow when Finale loads, it gets set back.
Another typical Finale FUBAR. Looks like I can send Alt+DDADD when Finale starts to work around it. When I get around to installing Finale 26, if this persists, which I suspect it will, I'll complain.

If anything in any program doesn't get saved which it should, first make sure the program and/or the logged-in user has the writing permission to the drive & folder in question.
Just a thought.

I notice with DirectSound there is latency with MIDI thru--with ASIO there is none. Increasing the buffer size to 2048 helps but does not eliminate it. Larger buffer sizes turn up yet more bugs (they must not be reading and writing the buffer properly). I'll see if I can live with the latency in exchange for having Finale not block out other sounds.
