What am I missing? This doesn't usually happen.

Thanks.

Implode or explode? Hard to know what you're talking about. It probably has to do with the shared notes (E's and A's). You might try JW Staff Polyphony instead.

You mention imploding, but the picture doesn't show both staves before the implode. One quick note is that you are imploding with 2 different rhythms, but I can't see the whole picture. Can you post a Finale file with instructions as to what you are doing?

Sorry, clarifying: this is oboes 1 and 2. The combined / imploded 1&2 line is the upper one, the to-be-deleted Ob. 2 line is the lower one. They're exactly the same thing, just a fourth apart. But when I implode them, it gets funky as the upper line shows.

Imploding 2 different rhythms can be problematic. Can you post the file for our testing?

Use the JW plug-in.

I tested the built-in Implode and got exactly what I entered from 2 parts in the imploded version. So, can't say without having a file to examine as to the cause.

Here you go. I get this with Impode. Quantization settings?

Or--though very unlikely--a fixed bug? I believe Ed has 2014.5 like me.

You are correct. I didn't replicate the original example. I guess some rhythms work and some don't. Jari's plugin is the way to go.

I believe it has to do with the time signature. If you make it 12/8 to show as 6/4, then it Implodes correctly with the built-in feature.

Here's the document: https://www.dropbox.com/s/m5ho2mn5nkrvo ... .musx?dl=0

Zuill I tried 12/8 as 3/2, but that's no better.

I've tried installing the Jari plug-in but it won't show up in my program with the other plug-ins.

Did you extract the plugin first? That is important before putting it into the plugins folder. Once you get the plugin installed properly, then you'll be able to do what you want with ease. Also, make sure you are downloading the file for 2014.5. The ones designed for v25 and v26 won't work in 2014.5.

i extracted it TO the plug ins folder. Does it need to be extracted to Desktop first? I haven't needed that

I've not done that before, but I guess extracting to the plugins folder can work. Finale needs to be closed, and then reopened after placing it in the folder.

You want the .fxt file in the plug-ins directory, not the zip file. Look in Program options/Folders to make sure you've got the right directory.

Still no luck. It's not showing up in my Plug-Ins menu in the program.

And even when I try to implode the 4/4 measure, it's still screwing it up. I think I must have done something unwitting to the meter changes that I'm not aware of.

The weird thing is that imploding works fine at the beginning of the document, where the time signature is 9/8+1/4. You'd think that something that complex would be more of a problem. I can't figure out why a simple 3/2 is causing a problem.

Try temporarily changing to this flavor of 12/8 before imploding. The function seems to be allergic to syncopation.

Looks like you've got the 64-bit version of JW Staff Polyphony, which Zuill warned you about. That's why it's not showing up. Finale 2014.5 is 32-bit.

oooo, that's WAY better than imploding.

I really have to catch up on my JW's...

Thanks, guys.
