It's a mess for me with the number of measures when aI split a measure.
Is there a way to tell Finale not to consider a split measure as 2 measures, but only one?

I appreciate your help

jose oscar,

If I understand you correctly, the problem here is {measure numbers in the layout}, right?
A split measure should be only one measure number (not two measure numbers, like m. 35 and m. 36), right?

It sounds like you are not using the plug-in (Plug-ins menu > Measures > Split Measure…).

The plug-in automatically makes the split measure only one measure in the measure numbering.
The trick (which you can do “manually” yourself) is that the second measure is not included in the measure numbering.
Measure Tool.
Double-click the second measure.
In the Measure Attributes, look for the option {Include in Measure Numbering}.

Thank you very much again, Peter.

Then the route (as I didn't use the plug-in (Plug-ins menu > Measures > Split Measure…). is:

1) Double-click the second measure.

2) Measure Attributes/ Deselect "Include in Measure Numbering" option

Just a small warning that if you happen to have independent key signatures or independent time signatures enabled in the staff attributes, then Finale will crash if you run the Split Measure Plug-in. This has been the case since about version 2014d. The bug was reported but never fixed (I just tried it with 26.1). There is a long thread about it on the old Finale Forum:

From the measure tool, select all and check "include in measure numbering". Then go to your pickup measures one at a time and uncheck "include in measure numbering."

The very first measure is also a pickup measure, and should not be numbered, by the way. For the piano, you should have a quarter rest in that measure.

I deleted the pickup (in fact I didn't want that pickup) but m. 20 is not written in its place yet

You had several measures in that system unmarked for including in measure numbering. Check all those but the pickup measure after the repeat sign.

Izuill, I don't understand.
How can I check those unmarked measures?
Where can you see those measures are unmarked? I only can see m. 20 as unmarked

Thank you very much, motet, zull and Perotinus.

Then the route to number all measures is:

1) Select all measures

2) 2-click/Measure Attributes/ select "Include in Measure Numbering"
